Strong Marshall Land Systems Team Attends Avalon Airshow for First Time

Company Shows its Range of Capabilities on Stand 1C21

Melbourne, 28th February 2011; Marshall Land Systems has brought a strong team including senior management and technical experts from across its operating companies to the Avalon Airshow. Attending for the first time, the team covers Marshall Land Systems main capability areas of shelters and modules, vehicle engineering including load beds or trays and capability development including UGVs. The team, based on stand 1-C-21, represents all disciplines within the company from general to programme management and from procurement to design.

Speaking in advance of the Avalon Air Show Peter Callaghan CEO of Marshall Land Systems said, “The strength and depth of this team represents our commitment to Australia and the concept of Australian Industry Capability. We have already announced the formation of Marshall Land Systems Australia Pty Ltd. This visit, following on from the Land Warfare Conference in Brisbane is the next step in that activity. We are meeting local partners, our local board members, members of the Australian Defence Forces and DMO and the State Governments. Our aim is to bring them and particularly companies that wish to join our supply network up to date on our plans and build on the start we have already made. We look forward to building and maintaining the long term relationships we have already forged and to starting others particularly within the supply network.”

The company’s capabilities in shelter or module based solutions include command and control systems, where the company fully integrates complex C4I systems into shelters providing all the necessary utilities and services, such as power, and fully environmentally controlled work areas and optimises the man machine interface to enable the operators to work at maximum efficiency. Other solutions range from fully fitted workshops to turnkey field hospital systems complete with operating theatres, sterilising units, high dependency areas, medical laboratories and CT Scanner facilities. Common to all solutions is the ability to provide full EMC and RFI protection and ballistic and blast protection if needed. The solutions are always designed with the full involvement of the user.

Marshall Land Systems has developed a range of vehicle logistics solutions including load beds, fully integrated equipment handling systems and tail lifts ensuring that new and legacy equipments integrate seamlessly. Its experience ranges from the MAN Support Vehicles, which are in service with British Forces in Afghanistan and saw service in Iraq; to the Thales Bushmaster, the Iveco Light Multirole Vehicle and Utility Vehicle, the Renault Defence Sherpa Light, the Ocelot Utility Variant and the Wolfhound Tactical Support Vehicle which has recently entered service in Afghanistan together with a range of military Land Rover variants.

The capability in Unmanned Ground Vehicles includes logistics support, surveillance, communications re-broadcast and Explosive Ordnance Disposal. TRAKKAR® is capable of carrying 250kg. It utilises “follow-me” technology, which enables it to reduce the burden for the dismounted soldier carrying their heavy loads. Once programmed it follows an individual without further input from him unless the task is changed. The “remote control” allows the operator to manoeuvre it into position to carryout a range of other tasks. QUESTAR® is a fast, agile surveillance vehicle which can travel on either tracks or wheels at up to 40kph. It can be fitted with a range of surveillance assets.

Supporting these capabilities is a full through life support capability not only for Marshall Land Systems solutions but also third party products. Included in this service is the ability to upgrade systems which have not kept pace with advances in technology but also those in need of full refurbishment to enable them to continue to provide service in the future without the expense of purchasing a new system.
